In the world of poker, everyone really has one goal — they want to become a professional poker player and win big money. Is this something that you can still do online? Absolutely! You just need to make sure that you are dialing in to the right wisdom from the get go.

In the world of poker, there’s one tip that you need to follow as a newcomer that will serve you well — it is simple: never stop improving.

Indeed, if you really look at the stats of the players that take this advice to heart, you’ll find that they really never stop going for the best deal possible. They never stop learning. They never stop practicing. Yes, they take losses but they don’t let those losses keep them from great poker. Far too many newbies expect to be on top of the world of poker after six months, and it really doesn’t work that way. You’re going to have to spend years learning poker, practicing poker, breathing in poker like it’s your only source of oxygen. Only then will you rise up through the ranks and win serious money.

You have to surround yourself with the right information. The nice thing about poker is that it’s been around for a while, so there’s a lot of great information. You can go with books, but now there are videos to really help you reinforce your technique. There are plenty of online sites devoted to poker, so you don’t have to feel like you need to spend a ton of money just to learn what you need to know.

Even though we emphasize information here, it goes without saying that you need to also learn where to play and where to avoid. If you waste time in the wrong casino, you will never enjoy poker. You’ll spend all of your time dealing with support teams and trying to get basic site functionality to work in your favor. That’s a waste of time and energy.

The road is clear for you to rise higher and higher, but do you have the mindset that says you can do this? If you believe in your own skill, you will do just fine. However, if you don’t believe in your power to play great poker, you’ll get left behind every time! We know what we would do in your case, but this isn’t about us — it’s all about you!

And if you need more information, why not check out pokerblog.com? You’ll be glad you did!

When playing Texas Hold’em an intricate part of playing this game successfully is having the ability to bluff other players into thinking that you have a hand that you do not. This is one of the thrilling aspects for those that play this game frequently since they know that it is their bluff that helped them to win the game. But, for those that beginning in the game, they are going to find that bluffing at the beginning is perhaps one of the overused techniques that these players walk away with that can lose them tons of games, if they are not careful about using this.

First off, most people often wonder why they should bluff when they are playing Texas Hold’em. The main reason is that this is going to help increase your wins since through bluffing you are able to win games that you should have lost. The person should realize that when bluffing they are giving away keys as to their bluffing and this can make it difficult when facing the same players in games to come.

There are tons of techniques and advice that are given on how to bluff properly; however, it all boils down to two things. The first is that the last hand in the game should have been a strong one and the opponents should have had a weak hand in order to give the person the doubt that they can win. Without these two things in place, you are gambling on whether the bluff will actually work or not.

The next topic to address is just how often a person should bluff during a game. The key is to find the timing in which a bluff would be useful. If you start to use a bluff each time, then players are going to know that you are bluffing, which takes away any credibility that the bluff may have had. Therefore, you should only do this when you know that the other players are going to fold and you know that you have the chance to win a decent sized pot. There is no need to waste a perfectly good bluff on a pot that is not worth your time. However, for those that beginning to play Texas Hold’em they will find that bluffing at the smaller pots can help to work on their craft and get a feeling for when they should and should not bluff. Overall, you should only bluff when you know that you can win and not overuse this as it does bring down your creditability.

CBet, or a continuation bet, is a type of poker strategy used when betting on the flop once the player raises on the pre-flop. In other words, the player is following up their initial wager with a subsequent wager. Usually, a player will use the CBet strategy in order to represent their strong hand.

In the world of poker, CBetting is a common strategy. This type of betting practice allows the player to earn a bigger value over the long haul while still controlling their hand, the hand of their competition and the size of the pot. Typically, a CBet totals from one-half to two-thirds of the entire pot. Therefore, CBetting carries a relatively high rate of success, particularly when used in a one-on-one poker game.

You can better understand the concept of CBetting by considering this hypothetical situation. After everyone has folded but the big blind, who has upped the previous $90 pot by $40, the total pot is now at $130. The chemistry of the flop is straight and flush. Your competition goes first; he decides to check. Since the board as a couple of draws, you choose to bet $85, which is two-thirds of the pot. Now, the pot equals $215. This textbook example is called a continuation bet.

When it comes to playing against one person, CBetting is a standard practice. By representing your strength before the game’s flop, you are able to display the same strength after the flop. But it is usually too risky to wager a CBet against multiple players, and the failure rate is much higher. For example, if three callers were left before the flop, there is a very small chance of you being able to take over the pot on the flop, particularly when betting king high.

In order to profit on your CBets, classify the player who called on your pre-flop bet. And wager smaller CBets in order to risk less money or when you flop a big hand. You can also add value to your hand when going against aggressive, loose players by raising the pot in small increments. The aforementioned type of opponent is highly likely to re-raise if your hand is strong.

If you have never used a CBet before, the best way to learn is by observing other players. Even if you are not participating in the game, experienced poker players can show you a lot. Through them, you can gain a better familiarity with CBetting and other poker strategies.

Ah, the river. We’re talking No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em, of course. That is a fierce game, you know — fortunes can really change in the blink of an eye, so if you aren’t careful you can really get eaten alive. Is it going to be something that you want to worry about completely? Eh, not really. Like any other form of poker, you really just need to focus on the game as it is, from every angle. That’s what the super shark players do, and they’re not turned off by any part of the current hand.

We get a lot of discussions about the river and whether or not it’s really important. The river can either carry you home or drown you, and that’s something that a lot of players — new and old alike — really have a problem with.

Let’s say that you have top pair due to the flop, and the turn doesn’t affect you in the slightest. What if the river is your highest card? That’s going to be a full house, obviously. But what if it’s not — and someone can actually beat you? That’s when you need to really study your hand potential — yes, even at the river.

First and foremost, you should always be paying attention to the way the action is in the game. If you have top pair at the flop and you know it, have you actually raised? Have you gotten shoved back? If you are raising on every turn and players are going along with it, there are a few expectations we can draw from these actions. For starters, we can assume that they have at least one pair. If they don’t have anything, they’re going to fold — why throw good money into the pot in hopes that you’re bluffing? So you have to look at your table and realize that you’re probably going to be dealing with serious players more than anything. Think about what their hand could potentially be.

If you get that full house you want, be cautious still — someone could still have a straight flush, or even four of a kind. Better still, someone might still have a higher full house than you do — that’s something that people can’t always accept. Either way, you want to always make sure that you’re not just leaping into something and losing all of your stack when that could be avoided. That’s such a costly mistake, you know?

The casino you choose matters, and there’s really no way of getting around that. You’re always going to need to make sure that you spend some time figuring out what casino will actually serve as the best place for you to play. You might think that it’s going to take forever to find a casino and thus it’s not that important but this couldn’t be further from the case. You see, the reason why finding a good casino is so important is because if you don’t take the time to look for one, you’ll end up playing at a casino that is only so-so. Sure, they might have a few casino games, but what happens when you have a problem? You’re going to end up waiting forever for an answer, or hope that someone will finally get back to you. Also, what if there’s an error in your account? How long is your money going to be tied up?

That’s why the casino you choose to play at definitely matters. If you’re new to the world of online gambling, you might feel overwhelmed in trying to pick a casino. One that immediately comes to mind is going to be Betway. Yes, it’s an obvious name but you benefit greatly from the very beginning. This is because Betway understands that it’s worth giving out welcome bonuses to get people really excited to come into the casino. Some sites get a little stingy with this, thinking that there’s no real need if you really want to play at a casino. However, there’s always a need to make players feel welcome, and this is definitely something that Betway Casino does not forget.

Once you step into the casino online, you’re not going to want to leave. That’s because there’s always something going on. There’s no reason not to tap into online gambling as a source of constant entertainment. It’s a lot cheaper in the long run than traveling to a regular casino, and it’s also cheaper than a lot of other hobbies.

You also get to meet a lot of people and they will definitely be interested in the same things that you’re interested in. That’s the trouble with meeting people randomly in real life — sometimes it can be hard to actually find people that are truly into the same things that you’re into. Your day to day life might not give you a lot of chances to make new friends, but you never know what will happen at an online casino until you actually play yourself.

Give it a chance — after a few weekends of playing online pokier, you’re never going to want to stop the fun — start today!

Ah, the flop. We love flops, you know. No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em is such a fun game, because a lot of players give away what they’re holding right at the flop. You can always tell that the person raising like 10BB has a monster hand — and he’s also a newbie nearly half the time if not more often. You don’t want to flash exactly what you’ve got because then people are just going to fold. Unless you just want to spend the whole game taking tiny pots, you want to spice things up a little. And that means actually having a clue of what your hand potential really is.

So let’s look at a flop, shall we?

9h 9d 2h

Nine of hearts, nine of diamonds, followed by the two of hearts. If you’re holding 82s and both cards are hearts, you’ve got a nice run on a flush. However, the trouble with getting too excited about your flush is that you can still be beaten by 5 other cards here. So if you get to the showdown and someone flips over a 10, J, Q, K, or A of hearts, you’re done for.

So for the moment, you actually have a nice hand potential. Even if you don’t catch the flush, you’ve still got two pair. The only trouble is that it’s not the strongest two pair — it is at the moment, but that could honestly change.

Many players have pushed into a pot like this hard, only to find that the turn or the river betrays them. That’s why it’s often better to go with smaller raises until you know for certain who is serious, who isn’t serious, and who will back down from you.

By the way, you should always be looking at the other people closely in the hand. Do they have a pattern of folding to pressure? Do they bluff? Do they play weak hands? This should all be part of your analysis. Yes, in the beginning you might seem “slow” but in time, you will catch up and be able to be a much stronger player in the long run.

It can take time to study all these different components quickly, but if you really want to improve your poker game, you need to look at more than just your hand. If you’re playing weak hands in hopes that you’re going to catch a freak flop, that needs to stop as well. You really want to make sure that you’re always playing your best hands — especially if you’re in a tournament where you can’t buy back in. Getting busted out means that you miss a chance at the money. Staying in and folding is better than going big and busting out hard. Trust us on that score.

Overall, there is always hope in raising your poker game, so don’t give up. Ask people online, practice your hands, and don’t ever think for a second that you don’t have what it takes to be a good poker player. Good luck out there!

The holiday season might be a great time for families to meet up, but that doesn’t mean that it’s always a great time for everyone. Some people don’t have a family to go to, or they might not really want to deal with the drama that family loves to bring to your door. Instead of thinking that there’s just nothing else you could possibly do with your life, why not actually invest in playing some online poker.

We know what you’re thinking — why would you want to stay indoors during the festive time of the year? Well, the truth is that more and more people are realizing that behind that festive facade are a lot of bitterness, emotional fallout, and other unsavory things. We are happy for everyone that has somewhere to go to on the holidays, but not everyone has that luxury. It’s coming to a point where having a solid family is a luxury that some people really don’t have, and they never will have.

Let’s say that you’re on the other side of the coin, though. you have a loving family but you just can’t make it out to see them this year. Does that mean that you’re going to have to sit on the couch all night watching bad Christmas movies? Not at all. You can have a lot of fun and even win some serious money playing poker online.

Even if you’re new to the world of gambling, you might not be new to the world of poker. It’s definitely a high stakes world that has plenty of action even when you’re not looking for it. The best part is that most casinos will even let you play for free as a way of testing them out before you have to deposit money.

Yes, it’s true that you’re going to want to actually get some real money into the game, but that’s not the question that you probably have in your head. It’s going to be a matter of thinking about where you really want to play, and then putting the wheels in motion to get what you want. The next step here is to make sure that your think about the right casino, and that means that you’re going to have to hit up some casino review guides to make sure that you keep it all into perspective. If you have special needs — such as needing a place that allows US traffic — or you just want to know who has the best payout and most amount of new players (easy money if you’re a skilled poker player already), the casino review guides are going to be really be your best bet.

What makes these reviews special is that they focus more on the experience that the player had. You’re going to find that poker players and other gamblers are going to be very honest with you about the experience that they had. So if there’s a bad experience, you’re going to hear about it. If there’s a good experience you’re going to hear about.

Joining the online poker community gives you another social component to add to your collection. We’re not saying that you should go online and play poker until your brain melts. What we are saying is that now is a great time to start thinking about online poker, especially if you’re really feeling lonely!

If there’s one arena of poker that we love, it would definitely have to be tournaments. However, multi-table tournaments are really the best of the best out of the category, and we think that more poker players should get excited about these types of tournaments as well. It’s not just enough to play a few hands on a Saturday night with people that you’ve never met — you have to go head to head eventually. You need to be in a large tournament because it helps you develop poker skills that will serve you well for the overall life of your entire career. The last thing that you want to do is try to just keep playing poker and not getting the practice that you need to really make things happen. And as always, when we say “make things happen”, we’re usually talking about your ability to make a lot of money. It’s better to go in knowing that you want to make a lot money rather than just assuming that you should give up before you’ve even gotten started.

If you think about it, everyone’s seen at least one multi-table tournament, and that would usually be the World Series of Poker. It’s the big one with a lot of money to be won. Millions of dollars are at stake, but what usually gets passed over is the fact that you really won’t have to place that high just to finish in the money. Sure, you’re going to have to battle a lot of people, but you can overcome them.

Since poker is psychological, we’ll just remind you that you can do anything that you put your mind to. You don’t have to feel like it’s impossible to get what you want merely because it looks impossible. Nothing is impossible. A lot of people probably didn’t think that Internet sensation Chris Moneymaker couldn’t win the WSOP, but he did and the rest is history, isn’t it?

We’ve covered tournament play before a little bit, but there’s a few more points that we wanted to cover.

Mindset

You think that mindset is important in regular games? That’s a good thing. However, mindset is definitely going to matter a whole bunch when it comes to multi-table tournaments. As we mentioned before, whether you think that you can do it or you think that you can’t do it — you’re right. That means if you don’t want to go into it fully prepared to make money and win, then you might as well sit out. Tournaments are a great way to get a lot of experience in a short frame of time against a lot of players, but it’s not for everyone. For one, you’re going to have to set aside time to make sure that you can play the whole tournaments. Tournaments can go on for a few hours, so you don’t want to just think that you’re going to play for an hour and win — it can take longer than that. That’s why so many tournaments are done on the weekends where people usually have nothing but free time.

Chip Stack

Do you think that bankroll management really ends when it’s time to play a tournament? Of course not. This is just another extension of the overall concept of bankroll management. You want to make sure that your style of play matches your chip stack. If you’re lagging behind, then you need to play a bit more selectively. Sometime sin order to stay in the tournament you would need to fold hands that you think are killers. They have a funny way of biting you when you least expect it, which isn’t good at all.

Position

We say it all the time on the poker sites, but we have to say it again — position really does matter. Late position is a great time to bet heavy and challenge people, and early position is a great time to make sure that you really do have something worth playing. Remember that it really is better to fold than it is to limp in thinking that you’re going to steal the pot. That might work sometimes but you’ll run into situations where such a move falls on dead ears — as it well should!

Sportsmanship

Sure, you’re not playing live poker where people can actually hear you talk. However, if there’s a chat room you don’t want to start belittling other people at the poker table with you. That’s a really good way to create enemies and possibly even be removed from the tournament. When you’re putting your hard earned money into a tournament, you don’t want to get kicked out for such a ridiculous reason. You might think that there’s really no way that you can control the way you feel from hand to hand, but that’s really not the case at all. It is possible to lose with grace, and it’s also possible to win with grace. You never want to put anyone down, even if they make bad plays — that’s a good way to create enemies too. Remember that everyone was new once, and you never know — the people that lost against you one day might be the people that defeat you another day. Everyone has the power to be a better poker player. The question is desire — how bad do you want to become a better poker player?

Overall, there’s definitely a lot to think about in the world of poker, and we can’t stress enough how important it is to always be analyzing your progress. Sure, you might not be able to get detailed stats on all of your tournament plays, but you can take notes. You can study the way you feel. If you’re getting emotional too often, you might need to reevaluate what your goals are in the world of poker. You can’t get emotional over the cards. Sometimes a nut hand will turn into a fizzle by sheer luck — you have to roll with the punches and keep on keeping on, as cliché as that sounds.

If you stay focused, keep learning, and refuse to give up, you too can win a multi-table tournament!

Is bluffing a good thing? If there’s one element of poker that everyone seems to really understand, it’s definitely bluffing. At least they think they understand it. Most people new to the world of poker tend to overdo the value of bluffing to the point where they make it obvious that they’re bluffing. Now, is there a time where you want your opponents to assume that you’re bluffing? Of course there is. However, like most tools of the psychological warfare scene, bluffing can get crazy when overdone. Your opponents assume that you’re really not doing a good poker run, and they tend to avoid bluffers like the plague.

Does that mean bluffing is dead or that you should give up bluffing? Absolutely not. You will want to make sure that you really get excited by keeping things fresh.

Bluffing should be a spice that you add to your poker game every once in a while. While you don’t want to telegraph every move that you make, you might want to make sure that do a few power moves every now and then.

How do we pull off bluffing without looking foolish? Glad you asked!

First and foremost, you want to make sure that you really know when to bluff. You want to bluff when you’re playing higher limit games, where the stakes are a bit higher. In addition, you want to go for smaller pots and build your chips up over time. Everyone will be expecting you to hit those large pots with bluffs, so you don’t want to get too worked up every time the chip count on the table gets high.

You need to make sure that you know your players inside and out. Are they playing a loose game of poker? If so, you might want to stay away from bluffing too much. This is because when it comes to loose players, they’re going to play just about every hand they have to the very end — making them a losing value proposition to bluff against.

The number of players in a specific hand matters as well. You need to have as few opponents as possible to force out of the pot. It’s a common sense point but it does matter — make sure that you really don’t go too hardcore on a pot where there’s just too much competition.

Speaking of going hardcore, you want to think about the type of hand that you have. If you don’t have a strong hand and you know there’s no chance of you winning, that’s called a pure bluff. Most players will have more success with a semi-bluff where there’s a chance that your hand will grow into something stronger.

When it comes to successful betting, the key here is to make sure that you are getting your timing right. You don’t want to just run with a bunch of calling — calling will not get you to bluffing status. It’s the ways that you bet and raise that will get you the attention you’re looking for.

Every now and then it’s good to bet before the flop, just in case you’ve got a pattern of never doing so. This will start changing your playing behavior, which can throw players off your trail. Are you going to have to lose a few chips here and there until you get the betting process down pat? Of course you are. Yet that’s the part about strategy that gets fun — over time, you make fewer and fewer mistakes which gives rise to the fact that you will eventually overcome problems and save money as well. Managing your bankroll is a topic that we hash out to death on this site, but it really is one of the most important concepts of poker. When you really think about it, everything in poker is about preserving your bankroll and growing it to higher and higher levels. When you decide to get into the world of bluffing, what you’re doing is trying to stretch your bankroll.

Is it risky? Most things in life are pretty risky. You will need to look at the playing position you’re in when it comes to bluffing as well as the position on the board. It’s easier to pull off a bluff when you’re at the river instead of at preflop. This makes players really think that you have something.

The last note that we have is to avoid theatrics — remember that poker is a mind game of all mind games, but acting like a donkey is going to make you look like a donkey — just keeping it real!

When you’re thinking about stepping up to the online casino experience head on, you’re going to need to think about the software that you’re involved with. Believe it or not, the software that the casino is running will actually control your experience.

There are a lot of software platforms out there, but we really have to talk about Vegas Technology. Now, you might wonder why we’re highlighting this piece of software above everything else. That’s because it’s a platform that caters directly to the needs of US players. that’s right — generally speaking, if you see that a casino site is running on Vegas Technology, that means that they are more than likely going to accept US players.

Now, you might be afraid to embrace Vegas Technology because you haven’t heard about the product. The truth is that Vegas Technology wasn’t always known under that name. They’ve been around since 1998 and they used to be called Oddson. Before they produced casino software, they produced secure e-commerce software and solutions. This is a company that knows all about security, and they crossed over into casino software after seeing the demand for good, quality solutions.

If there was one thing that can be said about Vegas Technology software, it would have to be that it brings a lot of variety to the world of gambling. You will have a lot of casino games to choose from, which include slots, roulette, video poker, and regular poker. You also have keno and craps to choose from, which is a big thing for some players. The software can give you superior graphics, which is definitely a good thing as well. Now, you might think that the graphical aspect of the game really isn’t important, but it really is.

Now, one of the biggest gripes that players have a problem with is re-connecting to the game site and losing their game progress. It’s hard to be ahead in say, slots — only to find that a network hiccup is keeping you from the money that you deserve.

Again, with this platform, you don’t have to worry about losing the money. If you are disconnected for any reason, you’ll be able to reconnect right away and be able to pick up right where you started.

Speaking of comfort and convenience, you’re also covered with Vegas Technology as well. For example, if you don’t want to download a client just to connect to the client, you’re in luck — you don’t have to anymore. If you’re really thinking about trying to get things done, you’ll be able to just use a Flash client and connect to the casino that way. The power of Flash is pretty obvious — you won’t have to download anything to your computer.

This is a benefit that seems unimportant until you have to travel from place to place, and you can’t take your computer with you. If you happen to be over a friend’s house, you’ll still be able to connect to the casino and play to your heart’s content.

As a player, you might think that the software platform that runs your casino of choice doesn’t matter. However, just as it’s important to choose the right casino carefully, you will want to also think about how the platform that the casino uses will affect your play — it’s really that straightforward!
